The Lacets de Montvernier

Rob Hawkins

A couple of years ago when I talked about the Lacets de Montvernier and the Col du Chauusy it was met with blank looks and intrigue, surely we’d all have heard about a Col this great?

Well that’s all changed over the past 5 years, the Col du Chaussy with the Lacets de Montvernier at it’s base if often referred to as the best climb of the trip by guests time and time again and next July when the Tour de France will make it’s way up this unbelievably narrow and technical climb it will not be quite such a surprise. Viewers of next years Tour on TV will also gasp as the pro’s did when they first saw the climb. Take a look for yourself with this film taken by one of the local cycling clubs (watch in full HD if you can it’s stunning!).

I have a sneaking suspicion that we’ll be climbing the Chaussy many times next summer…
